This is the second minuet by Lane in this blog. This one includes the instruction “to be danc’d with the minuet step”, just to make doubly sure you minuet to it.
The first Duke of Luxemburg was Wenceslaus I (but not Wenceslaus I of Bohemia, the Good King of the song). By the time that Playford published this dance in 1695, the Habsburgs were the dukes of Luxemburg along with the rest of the Netherlands and Belgium.
I used to work in the shadow of Windsor Castle, and have dined in the Queen’s own restaurant (the crown estate owns a MacDonald’s on the Slough retail park).
