I only really know this tune as one to sing songs to, no reason you couldn’t dance to it though.
Getting jiggy, C17-style.
History does not record who Thomas was or what it is that he cannot. My guess is “Thomas you cannot go to the window until Godiva has gone back indoors”.
Not to be confused with Nonesuch. What similarity is there between the two? There is none such (except that both are in Playford’s dancing master, under almost the same name).
See discussion from yesterday.
or Valentine’s Day, to give it its other title in Playford’s 4th Edition of the Dancing Master. Don’t worry, I’m not going to try to sell you something with pink fluffy hearts on it, just enjoy the tune.
Wait, today’s tune is called New Year’s Eve? What a coincidence.
I have no better reason to include this today than that it’s the thirty-fourth tune in my edition of Playford’s Dancing Master, so you’re not going to get a better reason from me. Someone in Rumble-O had the bright idea to cycle between D and F chords when going round this tune to break the monotony a little, so I’ve done each here.
