There definitely is a twang of birdsong to this tune.
This is another tune from Playford, and apparently didn’t appear anywhere else before the 13th edition of same. Just a heads up: there are 535 dance tunes in the 18 editions of Playford (and a few supplements), so I could go into the middle of 2017 without having to read another book.
As yesterday was Hereburgh’s hangover tour of the pubs of Harbury, we’re all feeling a little precious today. Here’s a tune you only have to be able to count to three to enjoy.
I’m not sure what they found cheery in this tune, maybe it was named ironically by puritans.

I know this to be a dance because Rose Hips have danced to it as played by their band, Greengage (also it’s in dance manuals). There’s also a song, about Apollo and the nymph.
